After a one-year clerkship for Justice Raul Gonzalez on the Texas Supreme Court, Scott practiced at Baker Botts, L.L.P., where he defended large, Fortune 500 companies in complex commercial litigation and represented clients in a variety of appellate courts.  Scott first-chaired a trial and argued at the Texas Supreme Court within his first two years at the firm.  Scott followed his time there by forming York, Keller & Field, L.L.P., where he served as managing partner and continued representing mostly institutional clients, while also mixing in defense of individuals and some work on behalf of plaintiffs.
